The car underwent refurbishment in 2004-2005 that included installation of the drivetrain along with rust repair, a color change from Jasmine Yellow, and more. It was sold in a previous BaT auction in August 2016, and was acquired a year ago by the seller, who has since added 600 miles, installed a new fuel filter, and changed the oil. This Spitfire is offered with a factory hardtop, folding soft top, tonneau cover, refurbishment invoices, and a clean California title in the sellers name.Invoices indicate the replacement of both floor pans and mitigation of rust in the sills. A used GT6 hood was sourced and painted along with the rest of the car. A split bumper was fitted in front, and a luggage rack was mounted with two holes drilled adjacent to the handle in the trunk lid. The work was performed by British Auto Works in North Palms, Oregon. A paint chip is noted on the leading edge of the drivers door.Powder coated bolt-on wire wheels are mounted with Toyo tires showing 2003 date codes. The car retains its Spitfire swing-axle rear suspension, which was refreshed with new bushings in 2010. The work also included new brakes, rear shocks, and new pinion seal.The seller recently installed the 3-spoke steering wheel, which fronts a walnut veneered dash housing stock instruments including a 5-digit odometer that reportedly shows 49k miles. A carpet kit was fitted during the 2000s refurbishment. A period AM radio resides in the center console. The horn is reported to be inoperative.The 2.0-liter inline-six was rebuilt to stock specs before installation and is paired with a rebuilt GT6 4-speed transmission. The installation required fabrication of several mounts and supports including for the radiator, which was lowered to clear the hood. Induction is through dual SU carburetors.The rear differential was converted from 4.11:1 to 3.89:1 gears in 2010.
